CONNECTING LOCAL & REGIONAL RESOURCES

MISSION

The overarching mission of this organization is to create a higher quality of life, stronger business environment and greater economic opportunity in the Brookfield area by merging the efforts and resources of the major community/economic development partners together into a seamless network. We find strength in networking and approach community/economic development from a “big picture” perspective.

OUR BEGINNING

In 1994 the Brookfield Community Development Committee was established, the mission of this organization was to promote community/economic development in Brookfield and to increase community involvement by organizing and coordinating the efforts of Brookfield’s community groups, as well as individuals. In 1997 the group incorporated and obtained a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit status changing their name to the Brookfield Community Betterment Inc. (BCBI). Following the devastating loss of a major employer the BCBI, IDA, City of Brookfield and group of leaders actively supported and participated in leading an in-depth community assessment and planning. The end result pointed out the necessity of a new community economic development approach with increased stakeholder involvement. To answer the call to serve this approach, the organization again reorganized, forming what is now the Brookfield Area Growth Partnership, also known as the BAGP or Partnership.

TODAY

The Partnership is a collaborative team of community stakeholders, is represented on its board of directors by the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, Main Street-Brookfield, Pershing Health System, Brookfield RIII School District, City of Brookfield and North Central Missouri YMCA, along with leaders from local lending institutions, businesses and youth.

In addition to a very engaged board of directors, the organization is supported by many volunteers serving on several working committees: Leadership, Alumni, Main Street Brookfield and the newly formed Early Childcare Committee. Comprised of approximately 40 dedicated members and volunteers, they meet regularly to manage the grassroots oversight of the organization and their respective committees.
